Most solar water heaters always work with an assistant tank for automatic water refill into the main storage tank. The working theory is similar to a flush lavatory, with a float ball valve inside the assistant tank to control water filling.



The assistant tank is usually installed on top of the main solar water heater tank, with a stainless pipe connecting each other, when the float ball lowers, the valve connecting with the float ball opens to let in cold water, when the main tank is full and water rise in the assistant tank, the float ball rises to shut the valve and water refill stops.



Assistant tank is specially designed for non-pressure solar water heaters, it works mechanically without manual operation, avoiding water overflow when manual water refilling. With an assistant tank the solar water heater is always full of water. The assistant tank includes the stainless ballcock.
